Sister Circle is an ELWA-led, optional activity for ambassadors. ELWA ambassadors convene in a small group environment with female students at Drew Charter School’s Senior Academy (mostly seniors and a few juniors). This is a casual gathering where we discuss topics selected by the students, share our personal stories, and offer guidance and support as they prepare to graduate and transition to the next phase. Topics that we have discussed to date include interview preparation, how to have conversations with authority figures, time management, decision making, identifying your strengths, and finding purpose.

To confirm your participation for one or more of the Sister Circle dates:

• Accept the calendar invitation and/or email Kivatah Castilla at kcastilla@eastlakefoundation.org AND Donyal Andrews, ELWA Sister Circle lead, at a.224@gmail.com.
• In the email to Kivatah and Donyal, include the date(s) of the session(s) you plan to attend. We will remain nimble as we know schedules change, but by identifying the dates you plan to attend, we can get a sense of the ELWA participation and plan accordingly.

Requirements:

• Background Check: Prior to participating in activities with the students at Drew, volunteers are required to complete a volunteer form and background check. If you have not yet done so, please follow the instructions below for Level 2 Clearance.

LEVEL 2 Clearance— Classroom and Onsite School Volunteers Only

• Step 1 –Complete the “Request to Volunteer Form” by clicking the button below.
• Step 2 – Email a scanned copy of your unexpired ID (Driver’s License – front and back, State-issued ID, Passport, or Permanent Resident Card) to drewvolunteers@drewcharterschool.org. Please be mindful that this is for Level 2 clearance only, allowing parents/ guardians to volunteer within classrooms or at the school for larger events. However, please be aware that all volunteers outside of classrooms should always be in the presence of Drew staff.
• Step 3 – Once the form is received and processed, an email acknowledgment will be sent to the prospective volunteer to provide clearance status update.
