Volunteer Opportunities

Several of our programs rely greatly on volunteers for success. The East Lake Foundation offers diverse opportunities to match different interests and schedules.

RESIDENT & COMMUNITY SUPPORT PROGRAM

The Resident & Community Support Program (RCSP) focuses on providing all residents at The Villages of East Lake, our mixed-income apartment community, with community building and economic stabilization resources. RCSP volunteers assist with community events including:

  • Set-up and/or clean up
  • Registration
  • Food distribution
  • Monitoring children’s activities
  • Vendor support

DREW CHARTER SCHOOL

Junior & Senior Academies (6th-12th grade)

  • Tutoring and mentoring
  • Financial literacy programming
  • Info sessions
  • Special events

Elementary Academy (PreK-5th grade)

  • Read alouds
  • Literacy Center
  • Math Lab
  • After School Program instruction
  • Special events

SHELTERING ARMS EAST LAKE

Sheltering Arms serves 135 children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Volunteer activities include:

  • Teacher’s helper
  • Performances (music, singing, puppets, etc)
  • Reading Pals/Play Buddies
  • General organization and clean up
  • In-Kind such as office supplies and printing, paper, equipment, and professional group activities
  • Reading Pals/Play Buddies and assist with parties or enrichment activities

FIRST TEE — METRO ATLANTA

A year-round golf program that uses the principles of golf—discipline, hard work and integrity—to enhance the academic achievement and life skills to hundreds of Atlanta-area youth (5-17 years old).

Participants in the East Lake program play at Charlie Yates Golf Course, East Lake’s public, nine-hole course designed by famed golf architect Rees Jones. Volunteers assist with basic golf instruction and mentoring.

START:ME EAST LAKE

Start:ME East Lake is a 14-session program in partnership with The Roberto C. Goizueta Business & Society Institute at Emory University that offers the assistance promising micro-entrepreneurs need to develop viable and sustainable microbusinesses.

Opportunities include one-on-one mentorship during the 14-week program.
