Eva Davis Empowerment Scholarship | Named in honor of the late Eva Davis, this scholarship is awarded to Drew Charter School students who demonstrate academic excellence and promise and are engagement in a meaningful way in the Drew Charter School community. Each of the students selected for this scholarship will receive $3,000 annually, renewable for his/her four years in college. [GPA: Maximum 2.9] |
Rc Pruitt Scholarship | Named in honor of Rc Pruitt, a pillar in the East Lake Community and former Senior Vice President of Operations and Executive Director of the East Lake Family YMCA. This scholarship is presented to one student each year who demonstrates academic achievement, civic leadership, and healthy living. The student selected for this scholarship will receive $3,000 annually, renewable for his/her four years in college. [GPA: minimum 2.75] |
Fischer Family Scholarship | Named in honor of the Rhonda Fischer, former Chief Operating Officer for the East Lake Foundation, and her family who were pillars in the East Lake Community prior to their move out of state. Students receiving this scholarship receive $500 for books and/or school supplies. [GPA: minimum 2.75] |
Jackson Family HBCU Book Award | Established in honor of the Jackson Family who are supporters of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). This scholarship will support students at Drew Charter School who plan to attend a HBCU. The scholarship is a one-time book award for $500. [GPA: minimum 2.75] |
Charles Harrison Scholarship Award | The Charles W. Harrison Scholarship Fund benefits employees of the East Lake Golf Club, the Charlie Yates Golf Course and Drew Charter School graduates who are working towards their undergraduate degree and exemplify outstanding character, integrity and leadership skills. More than 80 Charles W. Harrison Scholarships have been awarded to deserving candidates since the program was started in 1998. The award varies based on merit and need. [GPA: minimum 3.0] |
Danny Shoy Excellence in Leadership Scholarship | Daniel J. Shoy, Jr. served as the President and CEO of the East Lake Foundation for a decade offering unmeasurable leadership and commitment to East Lake Foundation and all partnerships that supported the East Lake Initiative. In his honor, this one-time $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior at Charles R. Drew Charter School who has exhibited leadership at Drew and within the greater community. The student will also possess characteristics that demonstrate determination, the ability to overcome personal circumstances and has the desire to improve the world for themselves and others. |
Dottie Kuhlman Scholarship Award | Dottie Kuhlman put an exclamation point in life, on and off the golf course. A loving and nurturing mother, wife and friend, Dottie never knew a stranger and brought people together throughout her life. One of her passions was the game of golf, which she played well into her 90s. She was an excellent golfer, winning twelve club championships across four decades. In honor of her commitment to young people and lifelong love of golf, her daughter, Dr. Cynthia Kuhlman (Drew Board Chair for 13 years), has established the Dottie Kuhlman Scholarship. This scholarship is presented to one Drew women’s golfer who demonstrates academic achievement and will pursue golf in college and/or a golf-relate profession. The student selected for this scholarship will receive $3,000 annually, renewable for her four years in college. |
The Drew Charter School HBCU Legacy Scholarship | Sponsored by Nielson IQ, this scholarship was established in 2022 to award Drew Charter School Seniors and Alumni with financial resources to support matriculation at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). The Drew Charter School HBCU Legacy Scholarship will be awarded to students attending HBCUs who continue to exhibit academic excellence and student engagement. Priority consideration will be provided to students attending Atlanta University Center Institutions. [GPA: Minimum 2.75] |
Rob Johnston Community Service Scholarship | Named in honor of Rob Johnston, a long-time East Lake Foundation Board Member who funded the scholarship and the associated Leadership and Service Program at Drew Charter School, the Johnston Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior at Drew Charter School who has demonstrated leadership in the community and a strong commitment to community service. Two students will be selected each year to received a $2,500 scholarship annually, renewable for his/her four years in college. [No Minimum GPA] |
